Harlequin MD Brings Industry Expertise To TSB's 'Collaboration Nation' Event.
15th October 2011
The Technology Strategy Board hosted the ‘Collaboration Nation’ technology-inspired feasibility studies event at London’s Business Design Centre on Monday 10th October.
The event showcased the winning entries of the TSB’s recent feasibility studies competition in January 2011, which covered technology inspired areas of advanced materials, biosciences, ICT, EPES, high value manufacturing and nanotechnology.
Monday’s Collaboration Nation event showcased the best of these projects, whilst also providing opportunities for open innovation, networking and keeping momentum going for further investment in future projects.
The event brought together a variety of new and exciting companies, each of which had something to say about their technology to the wider business community. On the day, presentations were made in a series of short, snappy elevator pitches.
The aim of the event was to develop a wide range of consortia for future investment and to inspire future technology inspired activity. Speakers at the event focused on promoting best practises in technology development from a business perspective.
Attendees at the TSB’s Collaboration Nation event included Harlequin Plastics MD, Brian McCann, as well as other members of the wider business community who are interested in open innovation and/or approaching the venture capital community or wider funding landscape.
As MD of one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of rotationally moulded oil tanks and diesel tanks, the event was of particular interest to Mr. McCann, who said “2011 marks Clarehill Plastics’ 30th anniversary and our achievement in reaching this milestone comes largely as a result of our investment in continued R&D and our commitment to innovation. The Collaboration Nation event has enabled like-minded members of the business community to come together and bring both knowledge and investment opportunities to some of the most talented innovators of technology that the UK has to offer.”
