FPS EXPO: Harlequin Launches Tankmark Installer Programme

Leading storage tank manufacturer Harlequin, has unveiled 'Tankmark', animportant, new consumer initiative designed to complement existing Technician and Installer Registration Schemes.

"Tankmark provides consumers with a gateway to a nationwide network of independent, professional, fuel oil storage tank technicians who can offer a complete, nationwide, tank replacement and installation service. The 'invitation only' initiative, complements existing competent persons schemes such as OFTEC. It allows consumers to combine a local installation and replacement service, with the reassurance that only a manufacturer backed scheme can provide.", explains Harlequin's Business Manager, Paul Kidd.

"Each Tankmark Technician is individually accredited and assessed to ensure they comply with Harlequin's demanding environmental and commercial standards. Participants must have an established trading history; must be accredited by OFTEC or an equivalent Competent Persons' Scheme; must have full Public Liability Insurance; must be able to provide a 'cradle to grave' installation and replacement service; and must be able to provide independent testimonials. Only then, will they be considered eligible for inclusion within the Tankmark scheme."

The development of Tankmark has in part been driven by a recognition of the ever-growing importance to the UK storage tank sector of the tank replacement market.

"The majority of storage tank installations completed in the UK today are replacement installations. Indeed, the significance of the replacement market has increased considerably as 'new build' and 'new to oil' installations have tailed off, as a result of the recession. Other driving forces behind the growth in the replacement sector, are the impact of regulatory changes, together with increasing awareness of the importance of environmentally responsible fuel storage.

"Tankmark recognises the importance of the replacement sector; it also acknowledges that when consumers are searching for a storage tank installer, the internet is increasingly their first port of call.

"Right at the heart of the Tankmark initiative is a consumer facing website which provides an overview of the competencies and capabilities of Tankmark Registered Technicians throughout the UK. Consumers can then make contact with their Tankmark Registered Technician via the website, driving more business to professional, competent Harlequin technicians. Tankmark Registered Technicians will also benefit from enhanced marketing and promotional support, tailored to their specific requirements and support from a national team of field based Area Sales Managers.", says Paul.
