Genuine Installer Interest at OFTEC's Channel Island Roadshows

17th March 2003

As leading members of The Oil Firing Technical Association for the Petroleum Industry (OFTEC), Harlequin’s John Switzer and John Wilde recently participated at Installer Roadshows in The Channel Islands. The events are designed to raise awareness of the importance of environmentally responsible oil fired installations and Clarehill was joined at the event by other leading oil equipment manufacturers.

Held in both Jersey and Guernsey, both events followed the same tried and tested format, with installers being able to see the very latest oil equipment innovations from leading UK manufacturers and catch up with the most recent regulatory developments. And of course, they were also able to sample the delights of the by now legendary free OFTEC buffet!

Speaking in St. Helier, Harlequin’s John Wilde said ‘It was great to meet up again with installers in both islands and to preview the latest developments in our business - most notably, the revolutionary Harlequin Ultra electronic tank measurement gauge. In addition, there was a genuine enthusiasm amongst installers present to find out more about recent developments within the oil firing industry - especially the ever-more complex demanding legal environment in which we all operate.’

John Switzer agreed ‘The response amongst architects, specifiers, installers, merchants and fuel distributors was especially positive. In both Jersey and Guernsey, Clarehill enjoys a market leading position and we are genuinely delighted to have been associated with these events, which are intended to stress the importance of professional oil installations by competent, OFTEC registered installers.’

And as a special treat, Jersey installers were able to take advantage of a free breakfast at a joint promotional morning, arranged in conjunction with Romerils - Jersey’s leading supplier of oil heating equipment and a longstanding distributor of Harlequin tanks. Held in Romeril’s premises at Dumaresq Street, St. Helier - installers traveled from all over the island to sample the delights of a free cuppa and a bacon buttie!!

Romeril’s Heating & Plumbing Manager, Ken Manning said ‘Dozens of installers attended the event and there was real interest in Harlequin tanks and fuel storage accessories. It was good to take the opportunity to reaffirm our market leading position with Harlequin tanks, and to preview new Harlequin products - most notably the Ultra electronic tank gauge. The Ultra concept has caused a real stir amongst the island’s installers and we look forward to working in partnership with Harlequin in the development of environmentally responsible fuel storage products.’
