Harlequin Launches New Retrofittable And Lockable Oil Tank Lids

Harlequin Oil Tanks has announced two new additions to the company’s range of Oil and Fuel Storage Tank Accessories, with the launch of fully retrofittable, lockable oil tank fill points and inspection caps.
Both new products are designed to act as a deterrent against fuel theft. They can be quickly and easily fitted to most existing Harlequin home heating oil, biodiesel and diesel storage tanks, supplied with 4” Screw Type Inspection Caps and 2” Lockable Fill Points and manufactured since 1997.
Harlequin’s John Switzer says, “Like any commodity, as the price of oil rises – so too does its appeal to criminals. Indeed, with reports of LPG, solid fuel and even waste vegetable oil being targeted - fuel theft is not an issue confined to home heating oil or diesel.
"However, it is important to remember that contrary to the impression provided by some media reports, fuel theft remains very much the exception as opposed to the rule. Whilst the likelihood of fuel being stolen from an oil tank installation, remain small, lockable caps and lids do represent a useful deterrent.
“These two new products are designed to be easy to fit to existing oil storage installations, are supplied with all required fittings as standard and designed to accommodate a weatherproof padlock, which can be obtained from most hardware and DIY stores.”
Lockable fill points have already been fitted to most Harlequin tanks supplied since Summer 2007 and lockable inspection points will be fitted to all tanks manufactured by the company with effect from 1 August 2008.
Additionally, all Bunded Heating Oil Tanks; Harlequin Bunded Fuel Point Diesel Storage and Dispensing Tanks; Harlequin Bunded Fuel Station Diesel Storage and Dispensing Tanks; and all BioDiesel Storage Tanks manufactured by the company, already incorporate lockable manhole and / or cabinet access as a further deterrent against fuel theft.

This product is suitable for all Harlequin fuel storage tanks supplied with a pre-fitted, standard 2” fill point manufactured before Summer 2007 with the exception of the following products:

† For protection against fuel theft, the offset fill connection fitted to this product is supplied with a factory fitted anti-siphon valve instead of a Lockable 2” Fill Point. * Discontinued product.
