New Registration Home Numbers Highest In 26 Years
04 February 2014
NHBC has announced that the number of new homes registered in London last year were at the highest since electronic records began, 26 years ago.

26,230 new homes were registered in London last year -  a 28% increase on registrations from the previous year. The figure means that last year saw the highest number of registrations since the economic downturn in 2007.

The London property market has been hitting headlines in recent months, due to what many see as a property bubble in the capital, thanks in part, to foreign investment.

However, whilst many refer to a property bubble in the capital, sustained growth has been seen in other parts of England last year, with parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland reported year on year growth also.

In some of the most positive news for the construction industry, NHBC has also annunced that the number of smaller builders joining their register has grown, with an average of 50 smaller builders a month now registering.

This will be seen as a welcome development within the construction industry, as companies across Europe continue to attempt to overcome the effects of 2007's economic downturn. Speaking on NHBC's latest report, Clarehill Plastics' Managing Director, Laurance Coey says, "Signs of economic improvement within the UK, Ireland and the rest of Europe will continue to be welcomed by those in the construction and indeed, the manufacturing indsutries. At Clarehill Plastics, we are also delighted to see evidence of what has been an extremely vulnerable market, starting and continuing to imrpove. We are prepared for an upturn in the market and have invested our resources in developing the highest quality rotationally moulded storage tanks in Europe. With growth comes increased demand and we want to ensure that any increase in demand is met with supply of unrivalled quality tanks."
