Fundraising can 'Bee' sweet as honey
15 October 2015
The sweet taste of fundraising success belongs to the Dromore Beekeepers Association (DBKA) which has combed in £750 for Cancer Fund for Children.
In what turned out to be a fantastic community initiative, Rowandale Integrated Primary School hosted an honesty box enabling visitors to buy some delicious honey which was created by bees belonging to DBKA. Proceeds from the sale of the honey went to Cancer Fund for Children which supports local families affected by cancer. The community generosity was extended further by Clarehill Plastics which matched the sum raised via the sale of the honey.
Cancer Fund for Children’s Fundraising Manager Matthew Allen, said: “I am delighted that this unique fundraising initiative has raised such a considerable sum for the charity. Activities such as this allow us to continue to provide practical, emotional and financial support in the family home, community and hospital ward to help families cope with the impact cancer has on their lives. These funds will also support essential services such as free therapeutic breaks at Daisy Lodge in Newcastle, Co Down.”
Cancer Fund for children warmly welcomes anyone who wishes to fundraise or partake in events for the charity. To find out more log onto cancerfundforchildren.com or call 028 9080 5599.
